The Fives Downtown is the perfect resort for travelers that want to explore outside of the resort! Just steps from the door is the lively and famous 5th Avenue. This streets have tons of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, souvenir shops and cultural places. You are just steps away from culture!
The property has a coffee shop and several restaurants on property. They also have the largest rooftop pool in Playa del Carmen! This property is not all inclusive and for good reason – it’s perfect for exploring the nearby local restaurants! Are you looking for a quite, peaceful resort? This is not for you. The streets below and the rooftop pool can get very lively. About half of the rooms face in towards the resort and the other half face the streets with either city views or a glimpse of the ocean. They don’t consider this view as ocean view because it is just a sliver of an ocean view.
Located a couple blocks off of 5th Avenue, this property is not a beach front property. The beach is about 4 blocks from the resort and is very walkable. The airport is about a 45 minute drive; Playa del Carmen is located about halfway in between Cancun and Tulum. I personally love Playa del Carmen, it is a great location for excursions and has plenty to do for everyone in your group!

If you have a large family or group traveling to Mexico, this resort is so great because it can accommodate families with 5 people and multi generational groups! This resort is also perfect if you don’t want to explore outside of the resort. It has 13 restaurants, teen club, 24/7 gym, nightclub, beach volleyball, and tons of activities for kids of all ages (even the big kids – aka the adults). They have arts and crafts, ice cream trucks and so much more! You need to try the unique traditional Mexican cuisine experience at the Casa de Rosa. This experience is an extra cost but so worth it!
This is not a resort for those that need an ocean view or are close to the beach. The property does not have any ocean view or ocean front room categories. This resort is for the people that love pools, food and lots of activities. There is an adult’s only section however if the resort is full, kids may be in the adult’s only rooms but not allowed in the adult’s only pool. Any adult on the property can use the adults only pool regardless on if you have a room in the adults only section. You are not guaranteed to be booked in the adults only section however this is where I come in – I work with my connections at the resort to try to get you a room in the adults only section. This section is divided by the boardwalk that takes you through the natural rainforest that is on the property. Here you can interact with monkeys and other wildlife! The adults only section is a good walk from the main pool and beach area. Don’t worry, even though this is a large property there are golf carts that go around to the golf cart stop points to pick up people or you can call them to pick you up if you don’t want to wait. There is now an adults only speakeasy on the property!
There are several different pools (almost every building has their own pool but you are not limited to that specific pool – you can go to other pools too) and many different room categories to find what best fits for your family. There are room categories that even have full kitchens in them – great for allergies or food intolerances.

If you want a more relaxing vacation with less kids around, The Fives Oceanfront is for you. This is not an adults only resort however, the typical travelers that stay here are adults as they do not have many activities for kids. Other than the small fishing town, there is not much to do around the resort except if you book an excursion which will most likely pick you up and drive you away from Puerto Morelos. It is perfect for a relaxing, secluded vacation. Most of the room categories have ocean view or ocean front views and the rooms have plenty of space! The resort itself is smaller in size with only 93 rooms and an emphasis on an apartment like feel. It is located directly on the beach. The decor is modern with some cultural references and local pieces. There are a couple restaurants on property and they use an alternating schedule on which one is open. There is a rooftop event space which is beautiful for weddings, vow renewals and celebrations!
