How do travel agents get paid?

About Me, Uncategorized

We, Travel Agents, get paid commission through our suppliers AFTER our clients travel. Yes, there are a select few suppliers that pay commission right away however it’s usually a small amount of money. If a client cancels the trip, since the client didn’t travel, I do not receive payment. I normally do not even know what the commission is until after I book a client’s trip and this is because I don’t look. If I were to send a client somewhere that does not fit their wants or needs just to get a higher commission, my clients would hate it and not come back. I look at what best fits my clients wants/needs and when I find it, I book it.

I charge a non refundable pre planning fee for my time, expertise, knowledge, resources, relationships and for the extra time needed if anything happens on your trip that I need to work my magic on. Planning fees vary based off the type of travel services needed and extra fees may apply. I am very clear about extra charges with clients and strive to be as transparent as possible.
